We’ve been all over the island the last few days. Here’s what we saw!
National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific:
This is the burial site and memorial for those lost in the Pacific durring World War 2 and the Korean War as well as other conflicts.
Very beautiful and powerful.
Pali Lookout
A scenic viewpoint of the Mauka (Hawaiian for mountians) of Oahu.
From here you can see the Mauka to the North, and the Eastern Shoreline.
Hanauma Bay
A popular snorkeling spot in Oahu. The bay is inset, and protected from waves, and full of reef and fishes. We hope to get some underwater photos to share!
Makapuu Beach
This was a cool beach with a lighthouse, rock cliffs, and a “blowhole”.
A blowhole is a hole in a rock formation that spouts up with water when hit by a wave.
Bellows Air Force Station
Bellows is a private rec. area for military personnel and their families. Is was really awesome to find a great beach, with almost no other people there.
Since my dad is an employee of the US Army, we got to partake of all of the amenities.
Schofield Barracks and the Mountain Pass
This is another one of the military personnel only things we got to see. The base is a standard military barracks, but there is a road that runs through the mountains with an incredible view!
North Shore
The Famous North Shore of Oahu
We saw alot of great beaches, and waves! Including where scenes of the show “Lost” are filmed. There are also alot of great little shrimp shacks, and stores. This is a must visit when in Oahu.
Nanakuli Beach
This is my Dad’s favorite beach.
With good reason too. Nanakuli has tall and powerful waves, a great beach park, and little to no people. The beach in unique in that it is a has steep dropoff from the ground.
Here is a video of my dad and I floating up on the waves, and the powerful wave claiming Kirstie’s sandal:
Kirstie did get her sandal back.
That’s it for the Oahu tour for now. Stay tuned for Kauai, and the Big Island!

Hey Everyone! We got here safe and sound! Bela traveled so well!!! For the whole 12 hours of traveling, Bela cried all of 2 min! She spent about 1/2 of the time sleeping, and the rest being playful and smiling at the other travelers.
It is SO beautiful here! We can just see Pearl Harbor out Rob’s dad’s (Pat) porch. (If you know Rob you can immagine his excitment to see world war 2 stuff)
This past Friday, Kirstie and I completed our program at Bethany College of Missions!
