  • USS Arizona Memorial

Yesterday Kirstie and I spent the day at the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor.
It was powerful and insightful to see and hear the stories of the events and heroism the ensued on December 7th, 1941.

The blast that destroyed Arizona and sank her at her berth alongside of Ford Island consumed the lives of 1,177 of the 1,400 on board at the time—over half of the casualties suffered by the entire fleet in the attack.

We did not realize until we noticed the flag at half mast that we had visited on September 11th, an event that many equate similar to Pearl Harbor.

The trip left us mindful of the high price of freedom.  Please continue to pray for our troops who above all politics, are fighting for their families, and their fellow Americans.

IMG_0085  This weekend we went camping! It was really nice and relaxing!  The best thing about camping out here you don’t have to worry about mosquitoes! It also was great being two minute walk from the beach!  Bela enjoyed being outside and getting to look around for hours!

    Coolest Island EVER!

The site of the US’s only active volcano, and home to some AWESOME coffee (Kona)!

We stayed in Hilo on the east side of the island.  We had a short time there but got to see great waterfalls, craters, caves, botanical gardens, stuning waterfalls, and Volcanos National Park.

     Hey All!

Sorry about the delay in posting, we have been busily relaxing!

Last weekend we were in the island og Kauai, called “The Garden Island”.  Kauai is very nice.  Mostly undevolped, unlike Oahu, and has awesome scenery and fauna.  We had a great and relaxing time there.
Here are some photos of our trip to the island of Kauai and the Lunar eclipse from Aug 28th:
