  • Saying good bye for now
By Kirstie on June 30th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Family Photos This was our last weekend here. God really blessed us because all of Manuel and Elvia´s family (and ours too) were here!  On Sunday we took pictures of all the family, because they hadn’t done that for years. It was hard to say good bye but we know we are coming back

It also was  very interesting because  we also had all the kids from the Saturday morning Oansa program sleepover too!  What a wild night!

It was a fun and a sad weekend and we are now working on packing, which is kind of hard because it reminds us that we are leaving and saying good bye to our Ecuadorian family.  Please pray for us during this time of saying goodbye.

  • Reflecting…

Child Care Ecuador This time in Quito really has been an amazing experience! I’ve been enjoying helping out Elvia with all her work!

For me it’s so cool because I’m getting to work hands on with these kids, showing the love of God, through teaching, giving food, and just playing with the kids!  I love it so much and I feel so privileged God has given me this opportunity  to be here!

It is really special for me also because all growing up, I’d watch the sponsor a child programs and wish I could go and do something for them, well now I am…. Lots of these children do get sponsored. They come from one parent homes where that one parent has to work two to three jobs to feed their five plus children!

And this next week is going to be a special week for the kids, we are going to have about 50 kids sleeping here on Saturday! Please pray that everything turns alright and pray for all the children!

  • Saturday and other stuff

Sorry I haven’t been writing, I’ve been a little busy! Yesterday was the busiest day of the week! Saturday’s Luz y Vida in Quitobegin at nine in the morning with helping students out with school work. ( I’ve been helping kids with math and English)

In the Afternoon there is a program called Owansa. Owansa teaches kids Christian songs, scripture, and lessons . I ‘ve been helping with one of the older groups of kids! Then at one the kids have a healthy lunch( Maybe the only one they have in the week). Saturday evenings Im with bela because rob is working with the youth and the worship band.

Next week will actually be the first time the church here has had youth group for a few months. And they wanted for the first week Rob to speak ! This the first time Rob has had to speak for a sermon type thing in Spanish ! Please keep Rob in mind for this week and pray for him!

  • Mothers Day 08
By Kirstie on May 14th, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Mothers day here in Ecuador is more like mothers weekend. On Friday the school here Luz Del Evangelio a big fiesta for the moms. This included games, gifts, and cake. It was so cool to see all the moms and some grandmas of the kids!

Then on Saturday night the church had a banquet for mothers. This was really awesome because a handful of people invited their non believing mothers, who really got to see examples of Godly love and Christian fellowship. I was really excited because the next day one of the mothers that was a non believer visted the church!

And Sunday morning I got breakfast in bed pancakes (Bela stirred the batter) and fresh oranges and bananas (like right off of the tree fresh!)!

It was a great first mothers day, and a great opportunity to minister!

  • Bela Prayers

Hey everyone!  We have been hanging out in Quito a little longer than expected because today Bela has some nasty diareah, and food was just going right through her.  We went to the doctor to have her looked at (only $8 !) and he did not see anything wrong, but wants to do a stool sample to be sure.  She has gotten some medicine, and lots of pedalyte.  So far she seems to be doing better but pray for her and for me ( I hate seeing my baby in pain).  We appreciate it.
