  • Back in La Concordia… For Now
By on May 2nd, 2008 | No Comments Comments

Luz y Vida in Quito We’ll first off, we’ll let you guys know that Bela is doing great. We went to the doctor who took a stool sample, and everything checked out ok. He recommended some dietary changes, but praise God that she doesen’{t have any bugs!

We were just in Quito visiting with our friend and surrogate parents Manuel and Elvia Rosero. We were just planning on being there for a few days while Sandro and I shopped for some computer equipment.
Manuel and Elvia run several programs for kids in south Quito (The poorest part of Quito), One of them is to help kids in the public school system with their homework and studies. Last Saturday, 40 kids came for homework help with only Elvia and a few older students to help.

Luz y Vida in QuitoIf you know anything about us, is that we are horrible spectators, so we jumped in to help. Kirstie was helping students with their English, and I was helping with math. We got a little bit of a taste of what our work in June will be like. We are looking forward to pursuing God’s Guidance into what he has planned for us in our lives and ministry here.

Most of my time recently has been spent working on the student sponsorship website. We came up with a name for it, the “Padrinos Program” (Padrinos is Spanish for Godparents). I came up with this logo design, but the feeling are mixed as to which one to go with…

    Padrinos Full Padrinos Heads

Ohhh oh!, Livin’ on a prayer!

    therm.jpgOk, no more Bon Jovi…. :)
But we are happy to report that after donations received today, we are 1/2 way the $4600 needed for our ministry in Ecuador!  Also, the month of April is fully sponsored through the “Sponsor a Week” campaign.
We are so thrilled and thankful at the amazing blessing that God has granted us through our ministry partners.  We definitely know that God has great things planned for us in Ecuador, and we are thankful that you will be part of it.

We still have a way to go, but as we know, Jehovah Jire! (God is our Provider!)

  • Speaking at Valley Christian Church

Valley Christian ChurchToday we spoke at Valley Christian Church in Apple Valley, MN. We got a chance to share about our upcoming ministry to Ecuador. We had a great response! Many people came to talk to us about joining the mailing list, prayer team, and we even had a few feel led to Sponsor a Week of ministry.
Thank you to the Valley family for making us feel so welcomed, and partnering with us as we create disciples in Ecuador.

  • Sponsor a Week of Ministry
By on March 1st, 2008 | No Comments Comments

La Concorida Ecuador 2004 We recently got an idea when talking to a member of our prayer team about creating a more tangable way for financial supporters to feel involved in our ministry in Ecuador.

We are starting a “Sponsor a Week” campaign that will enable financial supporters the opportunity to make a $175 donation that will cover all of our living, ministry, and baby expenses.
This campaign will not cover other expenses such as visas, airfare, in-country travel, and insurance, but we are excited to provide our supporters with a sense of ownership in our ministry by providing for our basic needs for a week at a time.

Our weekly sponsors as well as that week’s ministry information will be posted on our site here.  (You may want to bookmark it!)
If you would like to join this campain you visit this page, or contact us.

     Thanks all!  God Bless You!

  • Getting back in the swing of things…

We have not been doing too well keeping up on the site recently… I have been having trouble thinking of things to add other than “Ecuador is Coming up!” :)

We are currently working on setting up a list of the materials we will need in Ecuador, and what we are packing. We are also getting the house packed up as we start to determine what we want to keep, and what we will sell/give away.

We will try to get back to the 1 – 2 post a week stage soon, and most definitely when we are in Ecuador. Thanks for hanging in there!

Here is a video clip of Bela the big girl!
